We took a little break from the letters this week to do a bunch of pumpkin activities. Take a look!
We read these books...
And did these activities.
We made pumpkin pie playdoh. This recipe was perfect!
After we finished kneeding it, I divided some up for Parker's friends and had him smash it in a baggie. Then Ryan and I drew Jack-O-Lantern faces on the outside of the bad.
The playdoh smelled really good, and he played with it every day this week!
He liked playing with these little pumpkins. He made a truck and a trailer for them. =)
He asked Ryan to make a tractor and grain cart.
I made this pumpkin vine sheet.
We worked together to make the playdoh match the vines. It was pretty difficult.
I should've made the vines a little straighter, haha.
I bought some foam pumpkins from the Target dollar spot, trimmed them down, and had Parker order them by size. It was easier for him to order them from biggest to smallest rather than the other way around. Interesting.
We listened to and acted out The Five Little Pumpkins poem, and did this Jack-O-Lantern activity. I drew three different faces, cut out matching black pieces, and then he Parker had to find the correct shapes and put them on his blank pumpkin.
Then he got to make his own. He wanted it to have one eye and two mouths =)
He put these cards in order.
Finally, we did a 'practical life' activity. I started a few nails into the pumpkin and let Parker try out a variety of hammers on them. He was given some play tools for his birthday, so he was excited to do some real work with them!
Ryan taught him how to start the nail.
He really liked pulling the nails out and putting them back in the holes he just made.
I asked him to order the hammers from biggest to smallest since we
did that with the little pumpkins earlier in the week.
We also cut open one of the tiny pumpkins to see if the inside was the same or different than the big pumpkin's. We talked about the differences between pumpkin seeds and apple seeds. Then we baked the seeds and at them for a snack.
It was super fun to do some seasonal activities. Next week we are back to Letter F!
